Current releases of Logger Pro, Graphical Analysis, and other applications do support Windows 10 running on an ARM processor, with a few older devices remaining unsupported due to driver update issues.
Logger Pro 3.16.2 and later install on Windows for ARM systems such as the Microsoft Surface Pro X. The Logger Pro installation includes drivers for the LabQuest family of interfaces; LabPro is not supported on ARM devices. Vernier-made spectrometers are also supported. Spectrometers made by Ocean Optics are not supported due to hardware limitations. Other older devices are not supported; notably Ohaus balances and Watts Up? will not function due to hardware limitations.
Graphical Analysis 5.6 and later install ARM-compatible drivers for LabQuest interfaces, so it runs normally for wired and wireless sensor use.
Spectral Analysis 4.8.4 will run on ARM-based machines, but only Vernier-sourced spectrometers can be connected. Spectrometers based on Ocean Optics hardware, including the original Vernier Spectrometer, are not supported because of hardware limitations.
Instrumental Analysis is currently being tested June, 2021.
Microsoft has information on ARM-based Windows devices.
How can you tell if you are running on an ARM processor?
Go into the System Information dialog (right-click on the Start menu, and choose “System”) and look for the line that says “System type.” It will say something like “ARM-based processor”
Note that some computers that ship with ARM processors also ship in Windows S mode:
Do Vernier apps run in Windows 10 S?
Versions of Logger Pro older than 3.16.2 will not work on ARM machines due to driver versions. Attempting to install older versions (3.16.1 and older) Logger Pro on an ARM processor will yield a dialog that says “LabPro WinUSB driver installation failed.” Use version 3.16.2 or newer.
Note that that same error message can also be caused by trying to install old versions of Logger Pro
Logger Pro installer warns that Windows can't verify the publisher of this driver software.
