This happens when your calculator doesn’t have enough free memory available to hold the DataMate program. You will need to delete some or all of the existing applications on the calculator.
We strongly suggest that you clear the calculator memory (RAM) prior to transferring any of our software. This will help avoid most memory issues.
For some time in 2001 and 2002 TI shipped TI-83 Plus and TI-83 Plus Viewscreen calculators with many installed applications, leaving insufficient space for DataMate. In order to transfer any new applications like EasyData, DataMate, Physics, PhySci or ChemBio, you will need to delete at least one of the existing applications from the calculator’s memory. Use the following procedure to delete an application:
- Press [2nd][ + ] (this is the MEM function
- Choose 2:Mem Mgmt/Del…
- Choose A:Apps…
- Use the up and down arrow keys to move the cursor adjacent to the application that you would like to delete, then press the [DEL] key.
- Choose 2:Yes when asked: Are You Sure?
Deleting a single application from a calculator right out of the box should free up enough memory to transfer any of the Vernier applications. NOTE: If you wish to preserve one or more of your applications, you can back them up on a computer using a TI Connectivity Cable and the TI Connect software. They can also be accessed from the Texas Instruments web site.
