If you have a working weather station, and it stops working, here are some things to check:
Determining the Issue
Is the problem that all your weather data, which used to be displayed on a Vantage Vue or Vantage Pro console is no longer displayed there?
If so, make sure the console has fresh batteries and is plugged into power.
Is the problem that the console is not displaying outside data, but is displaying inside data?
If so, check the batteries in your Wireless Integrated Sensor Suite (ISS) outside.
Try reconnecting the ISS to the console. See the console manual for details on how to do that.
Is the problem that your weather data, which used to be displayed at weatherlink.com, is no longer displayed? If this is the case, and you are using Davis WeatherLinkIP (DWLINK-IP, discontinued):
- Make sure the console is powered and is displaying weather data.
- Make sure the WeatherLink-IP is plugged in properly and the ethernet cable is properly connected.
- Check the green LED on the WeatherLink-IP. It should be flashing if communications are going on.
Is the problem that your weather data, which used to be displayed at weatherlink.com, is no longer displayed? If this is the case, and you are using Davis WeatherLink Live (DWL-LIVE):
- Make sure the Davis WeatherLink Live (DWL-LIVE) is plugged in properly and, if you are connecting it via ethernet, make sure the cable is properly connected.
- See if the internet connection is really working. Try connecting something else to it.
- Use the WeatherLink app and click on the icon that looks like the outline of a person. That should list the devices you have, including your WeatherLink Live device. If the WeatherLink Live device you named previously shows up, click on it and check the settings. If no WeatherLink Live shows up, click on the Add button next to the words WeatherLink Live and set it up again. Note: You will get to choose whether you want to connect the WeatherLink Live to the internet via ethernet cable or via Wi-Fi. After you have the WeatherLink Live set up, click Configure Stations to specify the exact type of weather station you have and its ID number.
- If you have a Davis console, check to see if it is displaying weather data. Note: A console is not required, this is just a troubleshooting step.

Console Problems
If the problem seems to be with the console, try the following:
How to reboot the Davis weather console (from Davis Instruments, 2016):
- Take the weather display console, and put it into ‘setup’ mode. (On a Vantage Pro 2, push and hold the ‘done’ button, and while you’re holding it, push the button with the minus (−) sign. The screen will say ‘receiving from’. If it’s a Vantage Vue, push the 2nd button, then the ‘done’ button. The screen will say ‘enter time’.)
- Disconnect power to the console. Remove the a/c cord, and one of the batteries. The console should completely power off.
- Remove the data logger from the expansion port (you’ll need a pair of pliers).
- Wait about 2 minutes. While you’re waiting, check the pins in the expansion port for bends, breaks, etc.
- Put the data logger back into the expansion port. Make sure it’s seated in the port firmly.
- Then, restore power to the console. After it boots up, it will settle on the initial setup screen.
- Push the ‘BAR’ button. The next screen displays the serial baud rate. It should be set to 19200. If it says anything else, push the + sign to set it to 19200.
- Then push and hold the ‘done’ button to get it back to the main display screen.
Give it a few minutes, then go to the website, and refresh the page. If you still don’t see current data, follow these steps:
- Go to a computer that has the Weatherlink software installed on it and connected to the same router as the station console. Open Weatherlink.
- Go to the top of the program and click ‘setup’, then ‘communications port’.
- On the next screen, select ‘TCP/IP’. Then go below, and select the line that says ‘local device ID’. Click ‘find’. It should return an IP address and MAC address. Write down the IP address. Click OK, then click OK again to close out of the communications screen.
- On the computer, open a web browser.
- Clear out the address bar (where the www address is), and type in that IP address you wrote down. Hit ‘enter’. It should bring up an orange Weatherlink IP configuration page.
- On that next page, look for a line that says ‘upload to Weatherlink.com’. Check that box next to it.
- Look for a line that says ‘TCP Port’. Make sure it says 22222.
- Click ‘save configuration’, then close out of this screen.
- Go back to your Weatherlink.com page and refresh.
