1. Connect your first Go Direct Photogate to your data collection device.
  2. Set the Sensor Channel to use the Gate 1 – Gate State channel only.

  3. Place this photogate at the start position for your experiment. Your object must pass through this gate first.
  4. Connect your second Go Direct Photogate to your data collection device and set the sensor channel to use only Gate 1 – Gate State as you did for the first photogate. Place this photogate at the final position.
  5. Set the Photogate Timing mode.
    a. Click or tap Mode.
    b. Change the Measurement to Timer or Period.
    c. Verify the Time between gates option is selected.
    d. Click or tap DONE.
  6. Click or tap View, , and select Data Table.
  7. Show a Pulse Time meter. (Graphical Analysis Pro only)
    a. Click or tap View, , and select Meter.
    b. Click or tap the Meter All Columns button,, in one of the meters.
    c. Select + Add/Remove Meters.
    d. Deselect Gate State meters and select the Pulse Time meter.
    e. Click or tap DONE.

When you are ready to time a run, first tap the Collect button, then send the object through the photogates. Once the object has passed through both photogates, the time of travel will be shown in the data table. It will also be shown in the Pulse Time meter in Graphical Analysis Pro, if available.

Using a Template File
Another option is to download and use the attached template file. It requires two Go Direct Photogates connected to Graphical Analysis Pro (the free version will not work with this file). Using this file, it does not matter which photogate is at which position.
