What You Need

Only TI-Nspire CX II or TI-Nspire CX II CAS handhelds 1 running OS version 6.2.0 (or newer) support using Go Direct sensors with the DataQuest App. Calculator OS updates (linked below) can be found on the Texas Instruments web site:

Available in late August
The TI Calculator Data-Only Go Direct Sensor Cable supports single-sensor USB data collection without drawing power from the calculator’s battery.

The data-only sensor cable has a mini-A USB connector (for connecting to a TI-Nspire handheld) and a micro-B USB connector (for connecting to most Go Direct sensors). The cable is specially designed to allow data transmission while preventing the calculator from charging the sensor’s battery. 2

Additional options for USB data collection that can drain the calculator’s battery quickly:

Wirelessly connect up to four Go Direct sensors using the TI Bluetooth Adapter. The TI Bluetooth Adapter firmware (called a Sketch) must be version 1.1.1.75 (or newer). 3

Additional Information

  1. TI-Nspire CX Premium Teacher software, TI-Nspire CX and TI-Nspire CX CAS Student software, and TI-Nspire Online Calculator app do not support data collection with Go Direct sensors. ↩︎
  2. To charge a Go Direct sensor, use the USB cable included with each sensor. Sensors can be charged using a Go Direct® Charge Station (GDX-CRG), computer USB port, USB power adapter, or USB outlet. ↩︎
  3. The older Sketch version 1.1.0.63 works only when using a Go Direct sensor’s default sensor channel(s). A bug in that firmware makes using sensors with multiple sensor channels (e.g., Go Direct Motion, Go Direct Force and Acceleration, and Go Direct Light and Color) problematic when using other sensor channels. If running this version, you will need to update your TI Bluetooth Adapter to a newer version. ↩︎
