There could be a couple of issues that result in this symptom:

  • A firmware update may be needed. See Go Direct Temperature sensor reports a constant non-zero value.
  • Reset the probe by pressing and holding the power button down for several seconds.
  • Store the probe upside down (stainless steel tip pointing up) overnight to let any liquid droplets migrate out of the tip.  Then see if the sensor returns to normal operation.
