Bring out the explorer in every student.

Students come to class with ideas about how the world works. Vernier tools help you build on that thinking through hands‑on investigations where students ask questions, make predictions, collect data, and use evidence to explain real phenomena—developing foundational science practices they’ll use for years to come.

Investigations to Get Started

Why do I wear sneakers in gym class?
In this fun investigation, students test different shoes to explore friction and motion using the Go Direct® Force and Acceleration Sensor. Through real‑time data collection, they discover the forces that help them speed up, slow down, and stay steady.

How does a thermos keep my drink hot?
Help students explore how different materials hold heat! Using the Go Direct Temperature Probe, students investigate the science of insulation, heat transfer, and energy by collecting real data with everyday items found in the classroom.

Why are there bubbles in my bread?
Yeast isn’t just a baking ingredient—it’s alive! Using the Go Direct Gas Pressure Sensor, students can explore how living organisms like yeast produce carbon dioxide that makes dough rise and creates the bubbles they can see in bread.

“My fourth graders recently made solar ovens, which required that they determine what would be the best material to act as an insulator to keep in the heat, so we used the temperature sensors to test foil, fabric, and different materials. It was a perfect way to expose them to the technology and tie it into what we were already working on in STEAM!”

Vinegar and Baking Soda Reaction: Heat Up or Cool Down?

Have you ever mixed vinegar and baking soda? It’s fun to watch, but did you know that what’s happening is actually a chemical reaction that produces gas?

The gas it produces is carbon dioxide, CO2, and the reaction causes a temperature change, too. Does the temperature go up or down? Let’s find out!

We are scientists, educators, and your team.

As you implement data-collection technology into your teaching, we’re here to support you! Looking to learn more about our products or have questions about ordering? Reach out to our team at support@vernier.com.
