The CBL 2 is a multi-channel sensor interface for older Texas Instruments graphing calculators such as the TI-83 Plus and TI-84 Plus (made before 2023).

For classrooms with older, compatible TI graphing calculators, the CBL 2 is an inexpensive way to collect sensor data.

The CBL 2 is portable and battery powered, you can take it out of the classroom for experiments such as measuring accelerations on amusement rides or monitoring the temperature, dissolved oxygen, and pH of a lake or stream.

  • CBL 2 and LabPro interfaces cannot be used with TI-84 Plus CE calculators.

Supported Sensors

Compatibility Notes

  1. Requires a Motion Detector Cable to connect to a DIG port on the interface
  2. Requires user-defined programs
  3. Requires a BNC electrode
  4. This software cannot apply digital filters to EKG data.
  5. Requires a Heart Rate Receiver to connect to an interface
  6. Software does not support the Data Tagging feature that is typically used with this sensor.
  7. Requires an additional signal source, such as LabQuest running the Power Amplifier app or a computer running the Power Amplifier Function Generator Software, to control the Power Amplifier output
  8. Requires a Gas Pressure Sensor
  9. EasyData and DataMate do not support this sensor. Use DaRotary (not supported on color screen TI-84 Plus calculators).
  10. Software does not support baseline adjustment.
  11. Use with an electrode such as a pH Sensor, Conductivity Probe, or ORP Sensor.
  12. Software cannot calculate resistance or power data.
  13. EasyData and DataMate do not support this sensor. Use DataRad (not supported on color screen TI-84 Plus calculators).
  14. This interface/software combination can only collect force data; displacement measurements are not supported.

  • CBL 2 and LabPro interfaces cannot be used with TI-84 Plus CE calculators.
