Vernier Science Education sponsors the annual Vernier/NSTA Technology Awards. These awards promote the innovative use of data-collection technology in the science classroom. We present seven $5,500 awards each year.
Vernier sponsors the annual Vernier/NABT Ecology/Environmental Teaching Award for innovative approaches in the teaching of ecology/environmental science and has carried his/her commitment to the environment into the community.
In celebration of three decades of serving STEM education, Vernier awarded 30 recipients of the 30th Anniversary Technology Grant their choice of $10,000 worth of Vernier technology.
In partnership with Schoolhouse Supplies, Vernier and its employees donate back-to-school backpacks to over 400 children in our local community annually.
We also volunteer for organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, The Humane Society, Oregon Museum of Science & Industry, Portland Symphony, Oregon Public Broadcasting, LEGO Robotic Tournaments, Meals-on-Wheels, Oregon Food Bank, and many other organizations.
Vernier employees are encouraged to volunteer for non-profit organizations of their choice on company time and receive 4 hours of pay each month for their volunteer time. Vernier employees regularly volunteer at schools—teaching children to read, teaching art literacy, and helping with field trips and other school functions. In 2011 Vernier reimbursed employees for over 250 hours of volunteer time in their local schools and community non-profit organizations.
Vernier employees organize a yearly can food drive for Oregon Food Bank. They also organize an annual craft fair at Christmas time where employees sell their crafts and donate the proceeds to selected non-profit organizations.
Vernier was proud to receive the award for “Outstanding Philanthropic Corporation” from the Oregon chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
We were also honored to have received Portland Business Journals Corporate Philanthropic award three times.
Each year Vernier donates over $400,000 in cash and in-kind contributions to local and national schools and other non-profit organizations.
Vernier Science Education encourages our employees to support charitable organizations both locally and nationwide. Each year Vernier matches $1000 per employee for a variety of non profits, including school foundations, environmental organizations, and food banks.
