John Gastineau, Ph.D.
John has a decade of teaching experience from Lawrence University and North Carolina State University, and he used the early prototypes of Vernier interfaces and sensors in his introductory labs. He earned his Ph.D. in Atomic Physics from the University of Wisconsin, which required that he construct a lot of apparatus with custom instrumentation, including vacuum systems and tunable dye lasers.
John volunteers for the Mt. Hood Ski Patrol as an alpine patroller on both snowboard and skis, and he coordinates avalanche safety and rescue training as the Wy’East region avalanche advisor for the National Ski Patrol. His experience in medical first-response training supports Vernier’s safety committee.
