The Go Direct^® Centripetal Force System (GDX-CFA) ships with two mass carriages. One slides on bearings and is the primary mass holder for experimenting with masses rotating on the CFA. The second mass holder is designed to be affixed to the beam and act as a counterbalance to minimize “wobble” in the device caused by having a large mass attached to a large rotational arm.

In our investigations we have found the unit to be very stable. The counterbalance mass may provide some benefit in the most extreme conditions – that is with a large mass rotating at the end of the beam.

Careful leveling of the base provides the greatest benefit to reduce or eliminate any wobble.
