Occasionally a Mini GC will drop its connection with your computer or LabQuest when the Temperature and Pressure are initiating and then suddenly reconnect. This typically happens when you initiate the Temperature/Pressure profile. There is nothing wrong with your Mini GC.
If you are using your Mini GC with a LabQuest, update your software to the latest version. If the connection drops, your screen will return to the graph screen. You should not lose any data, simply press collect again and it should work. If you have this problem repeatedly, save your data and restart LabQuest App.
If you are using your Mini GC with Logger Pro and the connection drops, your screen will read 0 kPa Pressure and 0 degC Temperature. Press Cancel. You should not lose any data, simply press collect again and it should work. If you have this problem repeatedly, save your data and restart Logger Pro.
This is a known problem. We do not currently know what the physical fix for it will be. We do know that this failure is more likely to occur with certain computers or with certain Mini GC units. For computer users, try using a different computer (particularly if it is a laptop) or try using a powered USB hub. For LabQuest users, try using another LabQuest or plugging the LabQuest into AC power.
We also know this problem is worsened under very dry conditions where static build-up is high. Customers have had success removing latex gloves, using anti-static wrist straps, or using anti-static floor mats.
If you see this problem repeatedly, despite trying all of the above, contact Vernier Technical Support (888.837.6437 or chemistry@vernier.com) and ask for a chemist.
