The 32 bit driver files needed for importing data from the USB port on the TI-84 and TI-89 do not have a digital signature. As such, while Logger Pro and TI Connect do copy the driver files onto your computer, Windows 8 will not load them without addition steps. Note that the TI connectivity cable (looks like a mini headphone cable) and all 64 bit drivers do not have this problem, this is only a problem on 32 bit Windows 8 with the mini USB cable connection.
While running as administrator:
Install Logger Pro or TI Connect as normal (if you haven’t already.)
Plug the calculator into the computer and turn it on.
Go to the Device Manager: Move your mouse to the lower right hand corner of the screen and wait for the menu to appear, then move your mouse along the right hand side of the screen and click on the gear icon. Choose Control Panel from the resulting menu, then choose System, and then Device Manager (upper left.)
The TI calculator will show up with a warning icon in the Device Manager, right click on it and choose “Update Driver”.
Windows will ask you if it should search automatically or install a specific driver; tell it to search automatically.
It will take a few moments to search.
Windows will give a large warning about the driver not being able to verify the driver signature and asking if you are sure you want to install; tell it to install.
It will copy some files and then tell you that it is finished.
The calculator will now show up in the device manager without a warning icon and Logger Pro or TI Connect should now be able to communicate with the device.
