Video Physics is an app for performing frame-by-frame video analysis. It runs only on iPadOS and iOS, and is sold only in the App Store. Video Physics is a legacy app that will not be updated. It will remain available in the App Store for existing users, and available for purchase if existing users require additional licenses.
A new software title, Vernier Video Analysis, has replaced Video Physics. Vernier Video Analysis includes the core features of Video Physics, and also offers many additional features. Vernier Video Analysis is a progressive web app (PWA) that runs in Safari, Chrome and Firefox browsers. As a result it can be run on more platforms, including macOS, Windows, ChromeOS, and Android, in addition to iOS and iPadOS.
With the retirement of Logger Pro (which has video analysis features) and the increasing popularity of ChromeOS and Android, Vernier Video Analysis was needed to support all five common platforms. Since the features of Vernier Video Analysis replace those of Video Physics, there was not a need to continue development of an iOS-only application.

Available exercises
Vernier Science Education has not published any exercises or lessons for Video Physics. Two books of exercises to support Vernier Video Analysis are available: Vernier Video Analysis: Motion and Sports, and Vernier Video Analysis: Conservation Laws and Forces.
Notes on switching
- The core workflow concepts of capturing/selecting a video, marking points, setting scale and origin, and reviewing graphs is the same for both apps. A student understanding the concepts in the workflow for Video Physics should immediately recognize the same concepts in Vernier Video Analysis.
- Any written instructions for Video Physics that give detailed “click here” instructions will require revision, but since the workflow is substantially the same, the process should be simple.
- Files saved from Video Physics cannot be opened by Vernier Video Analysis, but if the original video is available, the video can be used in Vernier Video Analysis.
- Video Physics included no analysis tools, so users often had to export data for further analysis. In contrast, Vernier Video Analysis includes the graphing and analysis tools of Graphical Analysis Pro. It is typically not necessary to move data out of Vernier Video Analysis for advanced analysis. If it is desired to move data to a spreadsheet, use the copy and paste function of your device.
