Introducing Remote Logging for Go Direct Sensors

Whether conducting long-duration environmental studies or tracking fast-paced physics experiments, remote data logging expands the boundaries of what your students can investigate, both in the lab and out in the field.

Expand the Possibilities of Real-World Learning

Take science anywhere with remote data logging, now available on select Go Direct® sensors. This new feature allows sensors to store data directly to their memory without needing an active connection to software. Track atmospheric changes overnight, measure acceleration on a roller coaster, or conduct long-duration experiments without worrying about Bluetooth® connectivity or device safety.

From investigating rocket acceleration to analyzing water quality, remote logging empowers students to collect and explore real-world data—anytime, anywhere.

Go beyond wireless limits.

Go Direct sensors with remote logging free your experiments from device connections, allowing you to gather data that Bluetooth® or USB can’t reach, from tide pools to the stratosphere.

Expand the scope of your experiments.

Perfect for investigations that span long durations, such as monitoring soil moisture or tracking photosynthetically active radiation.

Mirror industry standards.

While designed for educational use, Go Direct sensors with remote logging offer advanced features similar to top industry tools, allowing students to experience data-collection methods like those used by professionals in the field.

Which Go Direct Sensors Have Remote Data Logging?

Remote Capable icon

Remote data logging is available on select new models of Go Direct sensors and requires our award-winning Vernier Graphical Analysis® app version 6.1 or later. Sensors with this capability are labeled with a downward arrow icon (see left) for easy remote-logging identification. Once connected in Graphical Analysis, users can follow simple prompts to set up and customize remote data collection.

Remote Data-Logging Capable Sensors

Go Direct Acceleration

Expand the scope of physics experiments with remote logging. Capture acceleration data in rocket launches, track rotation or altitude changes, or measure dynamic events like roller coaster rides—no connection required.

Go Direct Weather

Enhance environmental investigations with the Go Direct Weather System. Collect atmospheric data over extended periods, without worrying about maintaining a Bluetooth® connection.

Go Direct Salinity

Give students deeper insights into environmental processes. Monitor salinity values in estuaries where freshwater mixes with ocean water or collect long-term water quality data in saline environments.

Go Direct Soil Moisture

More easily track soil moisture trends with long-duration data collection—even beyond Bluetooth® ranges.

How to Set Up Remote Logging

1. Connect + Set Up

Launch Graphical Analysis and connect your remote-capable Go Direct Sensor. Adjust your settings—choose units, rate, and whether to start data collection immediately or with a trigger.

2. Disconnect + Carry Out Your Investigation

Select “Start Logging” and close Graphical Analysis (no need to save yet). You’re ready to start the experiment with remote logging!

3. Reconnect + Retrieve Data

When you’re ready, reconnect your sensor in Graphical Analysis, select “Retrieve and Clear” and your logged data is ready for analysis! Your sensor will be cleared, so be sure to save the file to share your data.

Get Started with Vernier Graphical Analysis

To get started with remote logging, make sure your classroom or lab has the most up-to-date version of Graphical Analysis installed on devices. Educators and students can also set up remote logging on the Chrome-browser based version of the app: https://graphicalanalysis.app/
